Marine conservation and training

A UX/UI redesign for a marine conservation organisation.

Redesign of the Conservation Diver website: a new look and feel and clearer navigation for an organisation that trains divers in five countries.

01Context

Conservation Diver trains divers in marine conservation, with centres in Thailand, Indonesia, Hawaii, Mallorca and Portugal. I worked with them while I was living on Koh Tao (Thailand). The footer of the course catalogue credits me as the web developer.

02The challenge

Organise an offer with many courses, programmes and centres so every visitor finds what they need, with an image that matches the project.

03Approach and execution

01

New look and feel

A complete visual redesign of the website.

02

Information architecture and navigation

A new navigation structure for courses, programmes and centres.

03

User experience

A better browsing experience across the whole site.

04Highlights

01 · Content hierarchy

Three ways into the offer

The home page sums up a complex organisation in three lines: training, career opportunities and materials.

02 · Information architecture

Courses by speciality

The catalogue is split into research, protection and restoration so each visitor goes straight to their area.

03 · Journey design

Certification path

Training progression is explained as a journey, not a list of courses.

04 · Location-based navigation

Training centres

The offer links training to the centres and countries where it takes place.

05 · Product design

From catalogue to campus

The site separates course discovery from access to the learning environment.
